NATO Secretary-General Jens Stoltenberg spoke by telephone on Saturday with Recep Tayyip Erdo?an to try to ease tensions while using Turkish president after he was wrongly listed among enemies throughout a military exercise in Norway.
The incident prompted Turkey, a NATO member, to download troops right out of the exercise. An infuriated Erdo?an said both he and modern Turkey’s founding leader Mustafa Kemal Ataturk were being listed as \”enemies\” at a chart within the exercise.
A NATO official said on Saturday evening: “Mr. Stoltenberg reiterated his apology for that incidents that was held on a NATO exercise the 2009 week. Vehicles noted that disciplinary action have been taken resistant to the individual showcased, and therefore procedures have been set up to avoid such incident in the foreseeable future.”
